Mumbai, July 24: Two-wheeler arm of the German luxury automaker BMW will foray into the Indian electric two-wheeler space with CE 04, which will be launched in the country today. The BMW CE 04 will be the first electric scooter from the marquee on Indian soil that will arrive via the CBU route, which is said to be the most expensive electric scooter. The two-wheeler maker is already accepting bookings for the premium scooter.
BMW CE 04 sports a unique design language with futuristic elements of maxi-scooter proportions that sets it apart from other electric scooters. The EV gets a bulky front fascia, highlighted by the front apron integrated headlight unit, while the seat is a flat bench that offers a floating effect. Moreover, offset placed monoshock adds to the styling element of the EV, adding to its overall dimension and giving it a commanding presence. The electric scooter will pack a 15kW electric motor making 41bhp of power with peak torque of 61Nm. The company claims it can accelerate to 50 kmph from a standstill position in just 2.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 120 kmph. The motor draws power from an 8.9 kWh battery that produces juice of 130 km on a single charge. The battery can be recharged in a little over four hours with a standard charger. The electric scooter will have three riding modes – Road, Rain and Eco, each altering the rate of acceleration. Feature-wise, BMW will equip the scooter with features like a 10.25-inch TFT display, ABS, ASC, traction control, keyless ride, ventilated storage and more. BMW Motorrad is expected to price the CE 04 electric scooter around INR 10 lakh (ex-showroom India).
