Chakan-based Two-wheeler maker Bajaj is all set to launch a new electric scooter today in India. The bike manufacturer is expected to launch the e-scooter under the new Urbanite brand, which could be called as Bajaj Chetak. We have already seen the test mule of the e-scooter while doing rounds on the Indian roads. The launch event is scheduled to kick-off at 11 AM IST. The special launch event will be held in the presence of Chief Guest Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Guest of Honour Shri Amitabh Kant - CEO NITI AAYOG. Rajiv Bajaj will be unveiling the new electric scooter in the presence of Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.
According to the rumours, the new Bajaj e-scooter is expected to get a retro design with a round-shaped headlamp, curved panel, single-side suspension setup, alloy wheels and much more. The electric scooter from Bajaj will be pitted against the likes Okinawa Scooters, Hero Electric, Ather Energy, Ampere Electric Vehicles, Twenty Two Motors and other two-wheeler electric scooter makers.
On the pricing front, the Bajaj will be eyeing to keep the prices of the Urbanite e-scooter around 1 lakh. If launched at the mentioned price point, the Urbanite e-scooter will undercut Ather 450 which is currently priced at Rs 1.08 lakhs (ex-showroom).
