Mumbai, September 11: Triumph Motorcycles India plans to expand its 400cc lineup by adding a new motorcycle for the Indian market. The British two-wheeler maker aims to launch a more affordable variant of the Speed 400. According to the latest teaser image, the new Triumph Speed 400 variant will be launched in India next week on September 17, with a price announcement on the cards. Deliveries are expected to commence next month.

It is evident from the teaser that the new affordable variant will get a different seat than the one seen on the Speed 400, which looks like a flat seat with custom stitching. It also confirms a teardrop-shaped fuel tank with a red and white livery, suggesting a new paint scheme. The black-coloured panel below the fuel is replaced with a grey unit. The teaser also gives a glimpse of the engine, which likely will remain the same. Jawa 42 FJ Motorcycle Launched in India.

Mechanically, the bike will employ the same 398cc, single-cylinder engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is tuned to produce 39.5 bhp of maximum power with 37.5 Nm peak torque. Since the mechanical aspect is expected to remain untouched, we could see some cost-effective measures from Triumph being opted elsewhere. All-New Triumph Daytona 660 Launched in India.

It’s worth noting that both the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X have been launched in the Indian market for more than a year now. Since the festive season is around the corner, the British marque aims to boost sales with an affordable Triumph Speed 400.
