Mumbai, May 4: Force Motors has finally announced prices for the all-new Gurkha 5-door and updated Gurkha 3-door in the Indian market. Force Gurkha's 3-door variant is priced at Rs. 16.75 lakh, while the new 5-door version, which comes in a 7-seater configuration, costs Rs. 18 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, pan India). Force has already opened bookings for the SUV with a token amount of Rs. 25,000 across all Gurkha outlets across the country. With despatches scheduled to commence this week, deliveries of the new Gurkha will begin by mid-May onwards. The off-roader has received a few changes, including a new 5-door version with a 3-row configuration, re-tuned turbocharged diesel engine, minor tweaks inside out and much more. The 2024 Force Gurkha off-roader retains its iconic boxy silhouette complemented by a new Gurkha badged grille, LED projector headlamps with DRLs, front fog lamps, new dual-tone alloys, factory-fitted snorkel, and 4x4x4 badging on the rear fenders. Dimension-wise, the overall length of the 5-door Gurkha is 4,390 mm, making it 425 mm longer than the 3-door variant, which is 3,965 mm long. The wheelbase has increased by 425 mm to 2,825 mm from 2,400 mm. The SUV has a ground clearance of 233 mm for all-terrain performance. Both 5-door and 3-door variants of the 2024 Force Gurkha SUV get four colour options – Green, Red, White and Black.
On the inside, the 2024 Force Gurkha off-roader now looks more appealing with quite a few minor tweaks. It has a new digital instrumentation cluster with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto. Force has also added features like electronically adjustable ORVMs, a start-stop functionality, a crash-compliant metal body, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera, TPMS and more.
The 2024 Force Gurkha is powered by the same Mercedes-sourced 2.6 litre turbocharged intercooled diesel engine, which has been re-tuned to make 140PS at 3,200 rpm and peak torque of 320Nm between 1400 to 2600 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission only and gets a 4x4 drivetrain with locking differentials and shift-on-the-fly functions. The 3-door variant of the 2024 Gurkha SUV competes with Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Mahindra Thar 3-door. However, Gurkha 5-door’s direct competitor – Thar 5-door - will be launched in India on August 15.
