Triumph Motorcycles, an iconic British two-wheeler manufacturer will be launching the new generation Triumph Tiger 1200 motorcycle in India Today. Triumph will be live streaming the launch event on its social media handles from 10.30 am onwards. Talking about the new-gen Triumph Tiger 1200, the motorcycle will be introduced in the Indian market as CBU unit unlike the new Tigers 800 as it will be assembled in India. On the global front, the updated Tiger 1200 is available in 6 variants, however, it remains to be seen how many variants are launched in the country.

Expected to get starting price of Rs. 17.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the company has already initiated the bookings for the new 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 with token amount of Rs. 2 Lakh across all Triumph dealerships in India. On the mechanical front, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 motorcycle will be powered by a 1215 cc, in-line 3-cylinder engine as seen on the previous generation. The motor is tuned to develop maximum power of 141bhp @ 9350 rpm with peak torque of 122Nm @ 7600 rpm which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The motorcycle also comes with lighter flywheel and crankshaft with new magnesium cam cover.

As far as the features are concerned, the all-new 2018 Tiger 1200 motorcycle continues to sport the same fully-digital TFT panel which is also fitted on the new Tiger 800. The motorcycle now features a new toggle switch with backlit switches, new riding modes, cornering ABS and hill-hold assist, cruise control, bi-directional quick-shifter and much more.

Another highlight of the motorcycle is that it will now come with updated frame and lighter engine as well as lighter exhaust, thus making the motorcycle lighter in weight by approximately 10 kg as compared to the outgoing model. The company also claims that the new-gen Tiger 1200 gets more than 100 changes over the previous model.

As far as the competition is concerned, the new Tiger 1200 will compete against the likes of BMW R 1200 GS and Ducati Multistrada 1200. Moreover, Ducati will also be introducing the Multistrada 1260 motorcycle in India in couple of months. Watch the LIVE Streaming here.
