Tata Motors, a home-grown automaker has finally launched Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) version of its first ever sub-compact SUV in the Indian market. Priced at Rs. 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the AMT avatar is christened as Nexon Hyprdrive S-SG. The AMT derivative is offered on the top-spec trim - XZA+. The AMT avatar of the Nexon Sub-4m SUV is offered in both petrol and diesel iterations. The company has already initiated the booking phase for the AMT version of Nexon with token amount of Rs. 11,000. However, the deliveries for the Nexon AMT will commence soon. On the mechanical front, the new Nexon AMT is available in both petrol and diesel engines that are seen on the manual version of the SUV. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron mill which is tuned to make 108.5 bhp of max power @ 5000 rpm against the peak torque of 170Nm @ 2000-4000 rpm. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq unit capable of making 108bhp of maximum power @ 3750 rpm and max torque of 260Nm in between 1500-2750 rpm. The transmission duties are carried out by 6-speed AMT unit, however, the manual variant comes with 6-speed manual gearbox. The newly launched Tata Nexon also comes with 3 driving modes - Eco, City, and Sport. The SUV comes with new dual-tone shade referred as Etna Orange color with a Sonic Silver coloured roof. Additional highlights of the new Nexon AMT are creep function, hill assist, PEPS key, 16-inch alloy wheels and much more. The SUV comes with projector headlamps with LED DRLs, front fog lamps, Harman sound system, 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and much more. Fitted with HyprDrive Self-Shift Gears, the Tata Nexon AMT will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport AT & Mahindra TUV300 AT.
