New Delhi [India], Apr. 14 (ANI): Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday condemned the people dividing the nation to serve their political agenda and said a nationalist is the one who respects all individuals living in the country.
"Unfortunately, various forces in the country are trying to divide the nation for their narrow political gains. Nation means all living creatures of this land, unless one respect each human being, one cannot be called a nationalist," Vice President said at the launch of book 'Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar-Vyakti Nahin Sankalp' at Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
He further appreciated the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in making the workplaces women-friendly and for initiating the concept of the maternity leave.
On the occasion, he also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
"We are indeed fortunate that the country is being led by a visionary leader like Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has not only been inspired by Dr. Ambedkar's grand vision but has made it a mission to integrate this vision into the overall governance of the country," Vice President Naidu said.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind likened Ambedkar to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and said both were an "inspiring figure for all humanity".
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot were also present here on the occasion. (ANI)
