Tehran [Iran], May 6 (ANI): In a fresh warning, Iran has cautioned the United States (US) that it would suffer "historic remorse" if it pulls out of a nuclear agreement with Tehran formally called as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

According to several media reports, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in a televised speech, said, "We have plans to resist any decision by Trump on the nuclear accord. If America leaves the nuclear accord, this will entail historic remorse for it."

This comes less than one week before US President Donald Trump is due to decide on May 12, whether to continue to abide by the 2015 deal by waiving US sanctions on Iran.

Trump lambasted the nuclear agreement reached with Iran in July 2015 as the "worst deal ever."

According to CNN, Rouhani even stated that Iran had plans for "whatever decision is made by Trump" and that "when it comes to weapons and defending our country, we will not negotiate with anybody."

Rouhani had earlier warned that if the US pulled out of Iran's nuclear deal, it would have to face severe consequences.

The Iran nuclear deal was signed between six countries in 2015 - Iran, US, Britain, Germany, Russia, France and China for lifting economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for limitations to the country's nuclear programme.

It guarantees the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear programme. Following that Iran had pledged to not develop or acquire nuclear weapons in exchange for the cancellation of sanctions imposed against the country.(ANI)
