[USA], Dec 22 (ANI): The United States of America has called for immediate release of the two Canadian nationals who were detained in China earlier this month in retaliation to the arrest of Meng Wanzhou, the Chief Financial Officer of Huawei in Canada. The US also expressed deep concern for the Chinese Government's detention of Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig.

Robert Palladino, the Deputy Spokesperson of Department of State issued a press statement saying, "Canada, a country governed by the rule of law, is conducting a fair, unbiased, and transparent legal proceeding with respect to Ms Meng Wanzhou, the Chief Financial Officer of Huawei. Canada respects its international legal commitments by honouring its extradition treaty with the United States."

He further stated that the US shares Canada's commitment to the rule of law as fundamental to all free societies, and we will defend and uphold this principle.

The three nations got caught in a diplomatic crisis after Huawei CFO Wanzhou was detained in Vancouver while taking a layover flight to Mexico.
