Lucknow, Apr 30 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet minister Sidhartha Nath Singh today began his five-day visit to the US with a high-level meeting with Medtronics-one of the largest health companies in the world.

The Yogi Adityanath government is also likely to showcase its two mega projects -- Jewar International Airport and UP Defence Corridor during the business meetings in major US cities this week.

Among the top US-based companies scheduled to hold parleys with a top-level UP delegation led by state health minister and government spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh, include Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Honeywell, which are marquee global aviation corporations.

The proposed Jewar International Airport in Greater Noida and the Defence Corridor in Bundelkhand region are projected to boost industrial climate in Uttar Pradesh, which has over the past decades not witnessed setting up of any mega industrial unit except the National Capital Region (NCR).

A five-member delegation, also comprising UP infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) Anup Chandra Pandey will interact with the US industry captains in San Francisco, New York, Washington and Stanford.

"Back to back meetings have been firmed up with top officials of global companies, US government officials and the diaspora. My tour will start with a visit to Medtronic - one of the largest health companies in the world.

The company has evinced keen interest in establishing cath labs in every district hospital of the state. Meetings will also be held with officials of ride-hailer UBER, which is so far serving commuters only in Lucknow and want to expand to tier-2 cities in the state," Singh told PTI from San Francisco.

He said that officials of Mastercard and Visa, who want to expand their footprint in UP, are likely to meet him.

Apart from this, Adobe and CISCO, have plans for setting up manufacturing units in the state, Singh said.

"My San Francisco visit will be related mostly to health and information technology," he said.

Singh, who is also UP government's official spokesperson, said that on May 1 he will visit Stanford University and deliver a lecture on the vast potential of Uttar Pradesh in several fields.

The UP cabinet minister is also likely to attend a meeting of the UP diaspora in New York on May 5 before wrapping up his tour.

"We also want to explore the possibility of setting up a financial hub/centre in the state, which will deal in banking and stock exchange activities," he said.

The other companies lined up for the series of business and investment meetings during Singh's stay in the US include Cisco, Amazon, Intel, Adobe, Oracle, 3M, Pepsico, Medtronics, Visa, Uber, Master Card, Pfizer and other companies.

The business meetings are being organised under the aegis of US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). On October 23, 2017, top business leaders from blue-chip companies under the USISPF umbrella had met UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath here to explore investment opportunities in the state.
