Udaipur (Rajasthan) [India], Oct 13 (ANI): As many as eight people, including five women and three children, were on Saturday killed in a car accident in Udaipur district's Salumbar area.

The owner of a local school had recently purchased a car and was going for a picnic. However, the driver of the car lost balance and collided with a dumper truck, resulting in the death of eight passengers.

The injured are being treated in Udaipur's Maharana Bhupal government. The police are investigating the matter.

Following the incident, Salumbar MLA Amrit Lal Meena reached the hospital to take stock of the situation.

"I rushed to the hospital as soon as I heard of this unfortunate incident. I have spoken with the Collector of Udaipur and Rajasthan Chief Minister and we will give the full support from the state government to the families of the deceased and the injured," Meena told ANI.

He also confirmed that he requested for a compensation of Rs four lakh per deceased from Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, although Rs 50,000 has currently been sanctioned. (ANI)
