New Delhi, May 23 (PTI) Two men were arrested for allegedly supplying illegal firearms to criminals based in Delhi and the neighbouring areas, police said today.
The Delhi Police was receiving information that several gangs are involved in the supply of illegal fire arms to the criminals of NCR and surrounding areas.
The weapons were primarily being procured from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Western Uttar Pradesh.
The Special Cell had recently arrested some arms traffickers of Aligarh (UP).
During their interrogation, it was found that Vineet Kumar (33) and Ramu (31) were involved in the illegal fire arms trafficking and were supplying arms here after procuring them from different sources, said PS Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).
On May 21, Kumar and Ramu came under the Salimgarh flyover carrying rucksack bags. They were identified and nabbed and 10 sophisticated pistols with 10 spare magazines were found in Kumar's bag, whereas 11 sophisticated pistols with 11 spare magazines were found from Ramu's bag, the DCP said.
After completing his diploma from ITI, he worked in the telecom sector as a field technician.
Subsequently, he also installed a RO plant in Aligarh but his business venture did not succeed.
Later, he was involved in an attempt to murder case in Rajasthan and subsequently, came in contact with criminals.
