Kalyanpur (Tripura) [India], Feb 3 (ANI): Two drug peddlers were caught red-handed with 25 bottles of heroin by the locals in Kalyanpur area of Khowai district in Tripura on Saturday.The drug peddlers were caught by the locals when they had come to sell heroin in the area and were later handed over to the police. "This is the second incident in 48 hours, wherein, the locals caught drug peddlers from the area. Later, we handed over the accused to Kalyanpur police", said a local, Swapan Paul. Two days ago, another duo was caught along with heroin from Kalyanpur Bazar Colony area.Officer-in-charge of Kalyanpur police station, Inspector Santosh, said: "On Saturday evening we received the information that locals have caught two drug peddlers in Old Motorstand area and immediately I along with others rushed to the spot. Locals handed over to two persons carrying 25 bottles of heroin. They were brought to the police station and we have initiated an investigation in the matter."Under ‘Nasha Mukth Tripura Abhiyan’ in Agartala, more than 67,000 kilograms of dry ganja, thousands of bottles of contraband and Yaba tables have been recovered by the police officials in last 10 months.
