Kolkata, Nov 6 (PTI) With an eye on next year's Lok Sabha polls, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership has asked its students' wing to reach out to the student community highlighting the developmental programmes being pursued by the Mamata Banerjee government.

TMC sources said the party is aiming to increase membership of its student wing, the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP).

"We will organise the students and propagate about the developmental policies of the TMC government in the state. We feel that the achievements in the education sector would be enough to ensure our victory in the Lok Sabha polls," TMCP state president Trinankur Bhattacharya said.

The TMC leadership has recently appointed a new state unit of the party's students wing.

TMC secretary general and state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee said students units in colleges and universities will communicate with others about the pro-people policies of the state government and 'anti-people policies' of the Narendra Modi government.

"The sole aim is to reach out to new voters and the student community and raise awareness against the divisive politics of BJP and RSS in the state," said a TMC leader. PTI
