Hyderabad, Apr 28 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced creation of a special Cell with a Rs 50 crore fund to help NRIs from the state in the event of any problem.
Rao, who held a meeting a group of NRIs here, said an IAS officer would head the proposed cell and that Telangana NRI representatives from various countries would be accommodated in a committee to be formed on the matter, a release from his office said.
"The CM wanted the proposed NRI Cell and Committee to work for the welfare of the NRIs and find solutions to their problems," it said.
He said Rs 100 crore was allocated in the state's budget for NRI welfare and Rs 50 crore from this would be transferred to the NRI Cell.
"If need be, the government is ready to give more funds for the NRI Cell and Committee," the release said.
Rao urged the Telangana NRIs to have a debate abroad on the 'qualitative change' in national politics he is speaking about and the attempts being made by him in the direction, it added.
