Strasbourg [France], Dec 14 (ANI): The Strasbourg shooter, who killed three people and injured 13 when he opened fire at a Christmas market here on December 11, has been neutralised, according to the French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner.
"At 9:00 pm, a crew of a specialised field brigade composed of 3 police officers from the @Nat67 Police saw a suspicious individual walking on public roads at 74 rue du Lazaret," Castaner tweeted on Friday (IST) in French.
"This individual corresponded to the description of the person sought Tuesday night. They stopped him to arrest him," he further said.
"The latter then turned around, facing the police officers, firing. They fought back and neutralised the assailant," his third tweet read.
Castaner also underscored on Twitter how proud he was of the policemen for bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Panic spread all around one of the busiest streets in the city when the unidentified assailant opened fire at the market. Shots were exchanged between the police and the perpetrator before the assailant made an escape.
The identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind the attack are yet to be officially announced. (ANI)
