Moscow [Russia], May 15 (ANI): Russia has criticised the inauguration of United States embassy in Israel's Jerusalem, which resulted in the deadly clashes on Gaza strip on Monday.

As reported by Russian news agency TASS on Monday, Russia's Acting Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took upon the US to reverse its position on the international agreements.

Lavrov, in a press conference, said, "We are confident that agreements enshrined in the global community's decisions should be unilaterally revised in such a way."

He further said the Israel-Palestine issues can only be resolved via direct dialogue between the leaders of the two conflicting groups.

"As you know, Russia has many times suggested hosting a platform for such a dialogue. Our proposal is still on the table," Lavrov said.

The status of Jerusalem is one of the key issues concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Yesterday, in the presence of a US delegation, including Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, a brand new US embassy was inaugurated at Jerusalem's Arnona area.

Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his gratitude towards United States President Donald Trump for the same.

Post the opening of the embassy, violent clashes erupted between Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers at the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of over 50 agitators. (ANI)
