Washington D.C. [USA], Oct 16 (ANI): Ralph Fiennes will be honoured with this year's European Achievement in World Cinema award at the 2018 European Film Awards.

The British actor starred in many celebrated films including, 'The English Patient', 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', 'Harry Potter' (Voldemort), and James Bond films 'Skyfall' and 'Spectre'.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fiennes made his international breakthrough playing Nazi psychopath Amon Goeth in Steven Spielberg's 'Schindler's List' (1993). The film earned him an Oscar nomination in the category of best-supporting actor.

While the actor is associated with some amazing Hollywood projects, he has maintained an unbreakable relationship with European cinema. He bagged a European Film Award for best actor for his role in the 'Istvan Szabo's Sunshine' (1999). He also received critical acclaim for his performance in 'A Bigger Splash' (2015).

The actor has not restricted his involvement in cinema to only acting but has also tried his hand in direction. He made his directorial debut in 2011 with the Shakespeare adaptation 'Coriolanus'.

Ralph Fiennes is scheduled to receive the award at the 31st European Film Awards Ceremony in Seville on Dec. 15. (ANI)
