Prithvi Shaw Ruled out of Australia Test Series
Indian opening batsman Prithvi Shaw on Monday was ruled out for the rest of the four-Test match series against Australia.
Dubai [UAE], Dec 17 (ANI): Indian opening batsman Prithvi Shaw on Monday was ruled out for the rest of the four-Test match series against Australia.
The 19-year-old, who was attempting to take a boundary catch in the warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI, sustained a left ankle injury. While it had been hoped he would regain fitness for the later stages of the series, it has now been confirmed that he will miss the remaining series, reported International Cricket Council (ICC).
The news has come as a blow to the Indian team as Shaw had an impressive inning on his early forays into the Test arena. His first two Test innings brought him 204 runs, including a 99-ball century on debut.
Replacing Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, an experienced domestic cricketer who is yet to make his Test debut, has been called up. He averages 50.30 in first-class cricket, with a high score of 304 (not out). Aggarwal had also struck a half-century for Karnataka in his most recent Ranji Trophy match. (ANI)
