Indore, Apr 13 (PTI) President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Mhow in Madhya Pradesh tomorrow to pay tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary.
Kovind will be the first president to pay tributes to the architect of the Constitution at his memorial in Mhow, located at a distance of around 25 kms from the district headquarters, an official said.
The president will arrive in Indore at 11.20 am and reach Mhow at 11.50 am in a helicopter.
"The president will be in Mhow for nearly four hours. He will visit Babasaheb Ambedkar's memorial to pay tributes," Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kailash Wankhede told PTI.
He confirmed that Kovind will be the first president to visit Ambedkar's memorial on his birth anniversary.
The president is likely to address the "Samajik Samarasta Sammelan" (social harmony meet), organised every year in Mhow on the occasion of Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Wankhede said.
According to the ADM, Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union minister Thawar Chand Gehlot will also be present on the occasion.
Around two lakh followers of Ambedkar are likely to gather at the memorial tomorrow, he said.
Narendra Modi had become the first Prime Minister of the country to visit the Mhow memorial on the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar in 2016.
Ambedkar was born in the Kali Paltan area of Mhow on April 14, 1891. The Madhya Pradesh government had dedicated his memorial to the people on the Dalit icon's 117th birth anniversary on April 14, 2008.
