Kolkata, Apr 18 (PTI) West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has said poetry and literature can be effective tools in forging peace and understanding among people.

Tripathi, himself an accomplished poet, said this after the release of 'Let My Love Be' -- a global anthology on poetry -- at a function here.

Several dignitaries were present on the occasion including Grammy-nominated musician Pt Tarun Bhattacharya.

"Among people and communities representing different cultures, poetry and literature can play a very effective role in fostering bond as any creative piece of work appeal to the heart," the governor said at the function yesterday.

'Let My Love Be' contains poems by city-based poet Bijoy Bhakat, besides those penned by Fred Tunks and Kathi Waggoner Coates of the US and Muzghan Azizy of Afghanistan.

"We mainly do research-based stuff. This is our first foray outside that space. The reason why we chose to publish these poems is because of their lyrical quality," Shyamal Baran Roy said on behalf of the publishers, Inkdia Books.
