Washington DC, [USA] Sep 03 (ANI): South Pasadena city leaders have cautioned people against making preliminary judgements over the fatal shooting of the American actress Vanessa Marquez on Thursday.

Issuing a statement, the officials stated that two separate investigations are being conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and District Attorney's Office into the officer-involved shooting.

"We believe our officers acted appropriately under a tragic set of circumstances," South Pasadena City Manager Stephanie DeWolfe said in a press release,"We are asking the public to respect the investigative process and allow the Sheriff's Department and D.A.'s office to gather and release the facts."

Marquez was shot and killed by police in Pasadena city. According to a report by TMZ, police arrived after Marquez's concerned landlord called them up to check on her, as she was said to be suffering from seizures due to an eating disorder.

After the paramedics were called in to take care of her, the 'Fire and Ice' actor took out a gun and pointed at the police. Following which, the police opened fire at her, Variety reported.

Vanessa was later rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. It later turned out that the weapon she was holding was a mere BB gun. (ANI)
