Bhubaneswar, May 18: The women wing of Odisha BJP has launched a state-wide Mahila Suraksha Yatra accusing the state government of failing to check growing sexual assault on minor girls. The Yatra was simultaneously launched from seven prominent Devi Peeths located in different parts of the state yesterday. The Devi Peeths are Sikharchandi Temple in Bhubaneswar, Chandi Temple in Cuttack, Bhadrakali Temple in Bhadrak, Samleswari Temple in Sambalpur, Maa Mangala Temple at Kakatpur in Puri, Kandhuni Temple at Sorada in Ganjam and Patneswari Temple in Patnagarh.

During the 11-day march which has been scheduled to cover all 30 districts, the women members of the BJP would hold 450 meetings. In those meetings the participants would sensitise the women about their rights and safety, said BJP women wing president Pravat Parida adding that they would also make the women aware of the failures of the Naveen Patnaik-led state government to deal with the crime against women in the recent times.

We have launched the Mahila Suraksha Yatra for the security and dignity of women after seeking the blessing of Maa Bhadrakali in Bhadrak. We'll try to reach every household in the state and create awareness. The Yatra will conclude on May 29," said Lekhashree Samantsinghar, leader of the Yatra in Bhadrak.
