Nagpur, Aug 23 (PTI) A senior Naxal leader, carrying a reward of Rs 47 lakh on his head, today surrendered before Chhattisgarh police.

Pahad Singh alias Kumarsaay alias Rammohhamad Singh Toppo surrendered before Inspector General of Police (Durg) G P Singh, the Chhattisgarh police said this evening.

Pahad Singh, native of Rajnandgaon, was collectively carrying a reward of Rs 47 lakh on his head, announced by police in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, the statement said.

The statement quoted the surrendered Naxal as saying that he had joined the outlawed movement for security and dignity of tribals, but the top Naxals leaders always distrusted him and discriminated against tribal cadres. PTI
