Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Dec 09 (ANI): Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has bested its own record of overseeing the highest number of aircraft movement in a single day by handling 1,004 aircraft on Saturday.

The earlier record was set on June 5 this year, when the airport handled the movement of 1,003 aircraft. Apart from 903 scheduled and 59 unscheduled flights, the CSMIA handled the movement of eight chartered, 31 freighters and three military aircraft.

Sources said the spike in the number of aircraft was due to pre-wedding celebrations of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal in Udaipur, with most guests travelling from Mumbai or using it as a transit point.

Apart from a host of Bollywood celebrities, including Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Karisma Kapoor, Vidya Balan, and others, former United States First Lady Hillary Clinton and singer Beyonce were as among the high-profile attendees at the celebrations in Udaipur.

Daughter of business magnate Mukesh Ambani, Isha and fiancee Anand Piramal, the scion of one of India's leading real estate firms, Piramal Realty, will tie the knot on December 12.

A quintessence of operational excellence, Mumbai's international airport is among the busiest airports around the world, an acknowledgment of the airport's continuous efforts towards setting quality benchmarks for the airport industry across the globe. (ANI)
