Gorakhpur (UP), Oct 12 (PTI) Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, who claims to be the great grandson of Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, Friday said he would mobolise support for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya if the BJP failed to do so.
He claimed that his emails to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requesting construction of the temple at the earliest were not responded to.
"I sent a number of emails to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requesting construction of Ram temple but none of them responded. If the BJP fails to take any initiative in this direction, I will take the help of the supporting parties for the construction of the temple," he told reporters here.
Tucy, who had earlier staked claim to the controversial Babri Masjid site, said he would hand over a 'No Objection Certificate' to President Ram Nath Kovind, seeking construction of the temple.
"I have come to Gorakhpur, the constituency represented for 25 years by Adityanath, to mobolise support for the construction of the temple and would soon move to PM Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi for the same," he said.
"Before becoming the chief minister, Yogi ji used to say he will get the temple constructed, but he is now saying the temple will be built when Lord Rama wishes," he said.
