Jaipur, Jun 14 (PTI) A 20-year-old French woman who was missing since June 1 after she visited the holy town of Pushkar in Rajasthan, was found safe in Alwar today, a police official said.

Gaelle Chouteau was supposed to go to Jaipur from Pushkar. Instead, she went to Alwar on June 1 to know about organic farming, he said.

She was not in touch with her family members and friends, as a result of which they started worrying and were trying to locate her by circulating messages on social media.

Circle officer of Bhiwadi-Alwar, Siddhant Sharma said, "She reached an organic farmhouse in Alwar on June 1. She is safe and wants to stay there for one more week."

He said Chouteau had come to know about the farmhouse through a website and contacted its owner, who called her to visit the farm.

She had gone to Pushkar and checked into a hotel on May 30. She left the hotel to board a bus for Jaipur on June 1.

Earlier today, SHO of Pushkar Police Station in Ajmer, Mahaveer Sharma had said, "On getting information about the woman's disappearance from an official of the French Embassy through email on Tuesday, we collected CCTV footages from the hotel."

"She was seen going towards the bus stand, but nothing could be established further," he had said.

Ambassador of France to India Alexandre Ziegler had yesterday tweeted a photo and details about the woman.
