New Delhi, Jun 12 (PTI) A 30-year-old man, wanted in several criminal cases including the killing of a juvenile hawker near New Delhi railway station last year, was arrested here, the police said today.

The accused, identified as Sunil Bihari, was arrested on June 7 from east Delhi's Pandav Nagar, following a tip-off, they added.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to killing the juvenile hawker near New Delhi railway station, and also admitted that he was operating a gang on the Delhi-Mumbai rail route that was involved in committing robbery, pickpocket and drug trafficking, Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police (Crime) said.

He used to recruit teenagers in his gang to commit crimes on board trains and in the area around the platforms.

In June 2017, Bihari killed the juvenile hawker while extorting money to prove his supremacy against a rival gang. He brutally killed him using knife, bricks and stones, he added.

He had been declared a proclaimed offender in the case.
