New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) A 23-year-old man allegedly involved in over 20 cases of robbery and snatching was arrested from northeast Delhi's Seelampur area, police said on Wednesday.

Based on a tip-off that Shehzad would be coming to meet his associated near Loha Market Pulia in Seelampur, officials at the Crime Branch arrested on October 6.

"Interrogation revealed that he was first arrested in 2018 when he along with his associates fired on Mohammad Saifi, a resident of Welcome, to implicate a rival. After coming out from jail, he along with his associates allegedly committed more than 20 incidents of robbery and snatching in the areas of northeast Delhi," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) G Ram Gopal Naik said.

New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) Police have seized over 2,500 quarters of illicit liquor on Dussehra, which was a dry day in the national capital.

To control the sale and transportation of illicit liquor, a drive has been launched and 2,634 quarters of illicit liquor was seized, an official said on Wednesday.

Following a raid at D-Block J J Colony in Bawana, 10 boxes containing 500 quarters of country-made liquor and two boxes containing 24 bottles of beer were seized, police said.

According to police, 40 boxes containing 1,974 quarters of illicit liquor were recovered from a car at an industrial area in Bawana.

A woman was nabbed with 64 quarters of illicit liquor from Samaypur Badli area, they said. PTI AMP

2 held for robbing people at gunpoint in Dwarka

New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing people at gunpoint in Dwarka's Baba Haridas Nagar, police said on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Ram Gopal (26) and Sikandar (21), they said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a flat in N block's Gopal Nagar on Tuesday.

The accused fired at police personnel, but were nabbed after a brief scuffle, a senior police officer said.

A country-made pistol and two live cartridges were seized from their possession, he said.

1 arrested for trying to snatch mobile phone

New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) A 25-year-old man was injured while trying to resist a snatching bid in south Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar, police said.

According to a complaint lodged here, two people attacked the man with a knife and tried to snatch his phone on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Of the two accused persons, police managed to arrest one, a police officer said.

New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly snatching mobile phone and a gold chain from a person in Bawana area, police said on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Pawan, they said.

According to a complaint lodged by a 19-year-old man at Bawana police station, his mobile phone and chain were snatched by two men near B-Block Sector-1.

Police arrested one of the two accused persons, a police official said.
