Mumbai, Apr 25 (PTI) In a bid to maintain transparency in transfer of teachers attached to Zilla Parishad schools, the Maharashtra government has decided to conduct the process online, Rural development Minister Pankaja Munde said today.
Speaking to reporters here after meeting representatives of various teachers' associations, the minister said the move will cut down political interferences and also ensure that no injustice is done to any teacher.
"The state government had laid a new policy for transferring Zilla Parishad teachers but some teachers' organisations opposed the move and approached court.
"However, the court has given its consent to conduct the transfers as per the policy of the state government. After the court's consent, the intra-district and inter-district transfer process has been made easy," Munde said.
She said the government has decided to conduct the transfers online.
"In order to maintain transparency during the transfer process, the state government has decided to make this process online. This decision will help stop political interference, besides, it will ensure that monetary transactions in such transfers get curbed to a large extent," said the minister.
As per the new policy, teachers working at places far away from their homes in remote regions will get an opportunity to come nearer to the area of their residence.
"Women teachers, working in non-secure areas and are facing various problems, will be benefited by this policy. They will be provided a secure place for working," she said.
Munde said differently-abled women, patients with life threatening incurable diseases, ex-servicemen and their wives will be given priority in transfers.
Explaining the procedure, she said, "The teachers will have to give 20 options while filling the online form for transfer. They will be getting appointment at one of these 20 options only," she said.
