Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Nov 6 (ANI): After facing a loss in the opening match of the three-match T20I series and eager for a win, West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl against India in the second match here at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium, on Tuesday.
India's stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma shared that had he won the toss, he would have opted to bowl.
"Not sure how the pitch is going to play. Black soil and a tinge of grass - hopefully it will hold up. We were looking to bowl first," Sharma said.
Assisting with the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be replacing Umesh Yadav, who had picked one wicket giving away 36 runs in the first T20I. "We've got Bhuvi back for Umesh. Unfortunate for Umesh to miss out after just one game but that's the team composition," Sharma added.
West Indies skipper Carlos Brathwaite, on the other hand, said, "Don't know what the pitch will be like. There is a little bit of dew as well considering we bowled very well the other night. Nicholas Pooran is in for Rovman Powell as he lends more balance to the side."
India is leading the ongoing three-match T20I series against West Indies as the Carribean side's top order had failed miserably in the opening T20I at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The two squads are as follows:
India Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed
West Indies Playing XI: Shai Hope, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite (C), Keemo Paul, Fabian Allen, Khary Pierre, Oshane Thomas (ANI)
