Bhopal, May 16 (PTI) On a day a Central government swachhta survey adjudged Indore as the cleanest city, second year in row, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has thanked the citizens for the achievement.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan has also hailed Indore and Bhopal occupying the top slots in the survey.
As per the Swachh Survekshan 2018', released by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Delhi, Indore and Bhopal have retained their first and second positions, respectively, from the last year survey.
"Proud and happy moment that in the #SwachhSurvekshan2018 survey Indore and Bhopal have excelled and maintained number one and two positions again in the country. I appreciate and thank the awareness, passion and resolve of the residents of these metros. #NayaMP," Chouhan said in a tweet.
As per the survey, Jharkhand is the best performing state followed by Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
Compared to the previous surveys, this year's exercise allocated substantial weightage to the feedback from citizens based on their daily experience.
Indore was the cleanest city last year as well but that survey was conducted only for around 430 cities. However, this time it was conducted for around 4,200 cities.
