Tehran [Iran], June 6 (ANI): The head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said, that the Islamic republic is preparing the infrastructure for building advanced centrifuges on Tuesday.

Iran's atomic chief said, observing the country's commitments to 2015 nuclear deal, the work has commenced at Iran's Natanz enrichment facility.

"Yesterday, we took the first step and submitted a letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the start of certain activities, but we started to take the necessary practical measures today," Salehi was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

On Monday, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei asked the AEOI to prepare for the enrichment of uranium up to a level of 190,000 SWU (separative work units).

The measures that Tehran is taking will not violate the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Khamenei said.

AEOI's goal is to supply nuclear electricity and fuel for nuclear power plants, he added.

Iran is in talks with European countries on saving the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal or JCPOA, after the U.S. pullout in May.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump announced the Washington withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or the Iran nuclear deal which limited the country's uranium enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief.

The Iran nuclear deal was signed between six countries in 2015 - Iran, US, Britain, Germany, Russia, France and China for lifting economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for limitations to the country's nuclear programme.

Iran had earlier said it would move out of the deal and resume its nuclear activities if the other parties to the nuclear deal fail to safeguard Iran's interests. (ANI)
