Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 7 (ANI): A National Security Guard (NSG) commando helped rescue a woman from drowning in Kathauta Lake in Lucknow, police said.
The incident took place when the commando was out on a walk with his senior on Friday evening.
According to locals, the commando rescued the woman as she struggled in the lake.
Senior NSG officials confirmed that Team Commander Ravi Kumar Rai and Commando Ravi Kumar who were in Lucknow on VVIP protection duty were taking a walk around 6:30 pm along Kathauta Lake in Gomti Nagar when they noticed people recording videos of the drowning woman.
Without further delay, on the orders of Team Commander Ravi Kumar Rai, Commando Ravi Kumar immediately rushed into the water to rescue her, officials said.
While the commando was in action, the team commander sought assistance from locals to help pull the woman out of the water. After the successful rescue, the commando administered first aid to her.
Team Commander Ravi also informed senior police officers about the incident and a police team, along with an ambulance, arrived shortly after.
The woman was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment and is now in stable condition.
In recognition of their heroic efforts, the Task Force Commander in Lucknow praised both Team Commander Ravi Kumar Rai and Commando Ravi Kumar for saving the woman's life and recommended a cash reward for Commando Ravi. (ANI)
