Tiruchirappalli, September 7: Passengers of a train that was on its way from Tiruchirappalli to Karaikal were evacuated after the guard of the train spotted smoke coming out from one of its coaches, railway officials confirmed on Saturday. According to a statement by the Southern Railway Tiruchchirappali officials, train number 06880 from Trichy to Karaikal reportedly departed from Trichy at 8.25 am and reached Thiruvarmbur at 9 am, where the guard observed smoke coming out of the last car of the train.

The guard acted swiftly by stopping the train and alerting the passengers, which led to a prompt and safe evacuation, according to the statement.
