Trichy, June 24: The Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIR) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized gold from a passenger at Trichy airport in Tamil Nadu, said an official from the Customs Department on Monday. The gold, weighing 1.666 Kilograms, was valued at Rs 1.19 crores, the official said. The passenger arrived from Singapore to Trichy.

"Based on specific intelligence, officers of AIU and DRI Trichy detected 1.666 kg of 24K Gold valued at Rs.1.19 crore concealed in an electric circular saw brought by a Male PAX as checked-in luggage. Pax traveled from Singapore to Trichy on June 24. Further investigation is under progress", said the official.
