New Delhi [India], November 11 (ANI): In the wake of rise in the incidents of firing and snatching in the national capital, senior officials of Delhi Police on Monday went to the ground to review the security measures.

Senior police officials, including DCPs reviewed the police pickets and instructed them to remain alert in all kinds of situations.

Police pickets are additional police officers deployed to specific locations to maintain law and order or for security.

Notably, for the past few days, several cases of firing and snatching for extortion have been reported in Delhi.

In the latest development, the officials of Delhi police said that a jeweller in the Rohini area alleged that he received extortion calls from an individual who claimed to be a member of the criminal Kala Jathedi gang while earlier, a Delhi-based music producer received an extortion call of Rs 5 crore from a caller who identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldi Brar Gang, said the police.

On November 9, Delhi Police apprehended three juveniles involved in the murder of 22-year-old Nadeem alias Bobby and a subsequent firing incident in the area of Jyoti Nagar and Welcome in North East Delhi. The trio was apprehended within hours of the incidents, which occurred on Saturday.

On November 6, an incident of firing took place outside the Raj Mandir Hyper Market in the Meera Bagh area under the limits of Police station Paschim Vihar West. On the same day, three bike-borne miscreants opened several rounds of fire at a motor workshop in the Dinpur area of Najafgarh, Delhi Police said.

Two days before the Paschim Vihar West firing incident, three people with muffled faces and riding on a two-wheeler fired several rounds at a plywood shop and fled the spot in Delhi's Nangloi area, police said. (ANI)
