New Delhi, July 4: Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said on Thursday that the recent implementation of the new criminal laws will significantly enhance the quality of life for citizens of India, according to an official statement. The minister highlighted that these laws are poised to expedite the delivery of justice, thereby saving valuable time for all stakeholders involved in litigation.

Referring to the Indian economy galloping to the fifth largest economy in the world from the 11th position a few years ago, Meghwal underlined that reforms and improvements in the judicial process will also contribute to the endeavour and goal of taking India to the 3rd position in the coming few years.

Meghwal also underscored the significance of India's progress as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that India would play a pivotal role in the 21st century on a global scale.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation organised an investiture ceremony at the CBI Academy in Ghaziabad today. On this occasion, Meghwal presented the President's Police Medal (PPM) for Distinguished Service and the Indian Police Medal (IPM) for Meritorious Service to 39 CBI officers and officials.

Congratulating the medal winners and their families, Meghwal said that it is a proud moment for all of us to have recognised their service rendered to the nation. He added that this also acts as a source of inspiration for all service officials to excel in their job.

Appreciating CBI in its role, he observed that not only CBI's importance is being recognised in society but also its investigation is the best, which is reflected in the high conviction rate in cases investigated by CBI. Meghwal emphasized that the CBI is rightly regarded as the best investigating agency, which is reflected in the demand for CBI probes every now and then in complex and sensitive cases by various stakeholders.

In his welcome address, Praveen Sood, Director, CBI, complimented the medal recipients and stated that they have achieved the laurels due to their professional hard work, resilience and fortitude, which have earned CBI great esteem. He further congratulated the recipient's family members.

On this occasion, Sood emphasised that the CBI and Law Ministry are working in a synergetic and collaborative environment to prioritise more efficient prosecution along with investigation. Director CBI stressed that CBI's role has been evolving with the passage of time, from handling primarily anti-corruption cases in the beginning to special/economic crimes, cybercrimes, bank frauds, etc.

Praveen Sood also said that CBI is working with the Ministry of Law and Justice with regards to the successful implementation of three new criminal laws, informing them that CBI has started implementing these laws. He offered that CBI is geared to assist States and other stakeholders in the implementation of these laws.

Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, also graced the occasion, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Law and Justice, CBI, other departments and around 90 family members of medal winners.
