Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 6 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign in the state capital Bhopal on Saturday, planting trees alongside public representatives.
CM Yadav announced that under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to plant 5.5 crore trees across the state, with approximately 40 lakh saplings to be planted in Bhopal.
"Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, citizens nationwide are planting trees in honor of their mothers. In line with this campaign, the Madhya Pradesh government has committed to planting 5.5 crore trees statewide. The campaign is being conducted in various districts," CM Yadav stated.
"Bhopal is set to plant around 40 lakh saplings, with about 12 lakh to be planted today. We are here with ministers, MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives. People from schools and other institutions have also joined the campaign," he added.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Bhopal district administration for organizing the event at Jamburi Maidan in Bhopal.
CM Yadav also remembered Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, paying tribute to him on his birth anniversary.
State BJP chief VD Sharma participated in the program with CM Yadav, urging the public to join the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign and plant trees.
"Today, I participated in the inauguration of the plantation campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' with CM Yadav at Jamburi Maidan, Bhopal, and planted a sapling. Responding to PM Modi's call, citizens nationwide are pledging to protect nature by planting trees. The resolution to plant 5.5 crore saplings in the state under CM Yadav's leadership is commendable," Sharma posted on X.
He further wrote, "On this auspicious occasion, I urge all citizens to participate in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, plant trees, and give the invaluable gift of nature conservation to our mothers, as per PM Modi's wish."
Earlier, state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced that 51 lakh trees would be planted in Indore district under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign between July 7 and July 14.
The Indore Municipal Corporation will provide the saplings. Additionally, the Municipal Corporation, Indore Development Authority, and Forest Department will plant trees in various areas, including city and village lands and BSF properties, he added. (ANI)
