Marrakesh, September 9: The death toll in the powerful earthquake that occurred in Morocco near Marrakesh has reached over 1,000, Al Jazeera reported on Saturday. Quoting, Moroccan state media, Al Jazeera said, "At least 1,037 have been killed and 1,200 injured in the quake." An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale hit 56 km W of Oukaïmedene, Morocco late on Friday night, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
