Kolkata, July 25: Metro services in Kolkata were disrupted on Wednesday after a man tried to die by suicide by jumping in front of the train. The incident occurred around 9:13 PM when a man jumped in front of an approaching train, as reported by the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Metro Rail Kolkata. The situation unfolded at Kalighat metro station. The injured person was taken to SSKM Hospital in critical condition. The details of the injured are yet to be established.

In another incident, earlier this month, a man and his father died by suicide after lying down on the tracks in front of a moving train approaching them, holding hands, and being eventually hit, at Bhayandar railway station near Mumbai.The police took the bodies in their possession and has sent them for postmortem. Based on preliminary investigation by the railway police, the father-son duo died by suicide owing to heavy debt caused by huge losses in the stock market. The father has been identified as Harish Mehta and the son was Jai Mehta. Both were residents of Nala Sopara in Maharashtra. While Harish Mehta used to work in the stock market, Jai Mehta was a DTP operator.
