Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 12 (ANI): Continuing its strict action against drug peddlers, Jammu Police on Thursday attached two residential houses valued in crores belonging to notorious drug peddlers.

The drug peddlers have been identified as Javed Ahmed and his son, Abdul Majeed, and the action has been taken under Section 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act 1985.

According to an official release, during the investigation conducted by Jammu Police, it has been established that the property above has been acquired through the proceeds of the narcotics trade.

"The assessment of the above-attached property has been done by the board of engineers formed by XeN R&B and Revenue Department, valuing Rs 1 crore, 4 lakh, and 71 thousand. Thus, from the assessment reports of the Revenue and R&B Department, it was established that the property was prima facie acquired from the proceeds of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner of the above-mentioned houses, which is much more than their legal known source of income," the release said.

It is also pertinent to mention here that four more properties worth crores already stand frozen in Rajeev Nagar area (three properties) of Police Station Bahufort and Ragoora (one property) area of PS Bagh-e-Bahu by Jammu police in the last 5 months.

The whole operation was supervised by SSP Jammu.

Local people of the area, common citizens, and netizens of Jammu have hailed the initiative of Jammu Police about the attachment of immovable property, that has been raised or used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the District Jammu. (ANI)
