New Delhi, September 6: As Jammu and Kashmir gears up for the upcoming assembly polls, Union Minister Amit Shah is set to launch the Bharatiya Janata Party's manifesto on Friday as he leaves for a two-day visit to the territory. Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled in three phases, which will be conducted on September 18, 25, and October 1.

In the previous Assembly elections, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) won 28 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 25, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) won 15, and the Congress won 12.

Polling in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, the results for which will be declared on October 8. Congress has allied with the National Conference to contest the polls.
