New Delhi, June 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Friday, that light to moderate rainfall is likely over the northeast and eastern regions of the country during the next couple of hours. The areas where light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places with occasional intense spells are Sikkim and the adjoining areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Arunachal Pradesh, West Assam, and Meghalaya.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lighting in extreme northeast Bihar for the next three hours. IMD Predicts Light to Moderate Rainfall

Earlier, on Thursday, the IMD predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls is very likely to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India during the next 4-5 days. According to the prediction, the conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 3-4 days.

The IMD has also generated a warning regarding the heatwave in the northern parts of India. "Heatwave to severe heat wave conditions likely to continue over northern parts of India during next 4-5 days," it stated.
