New Delhi, May 31: Delhi Police raided an illegal casino operating near South Ganesh Nagar and apprehended five persons engaged in online gambling activities, officials said on Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Apoorva Gupta stated that a raid was conducted near Mother Dairy in South Ganesh Nagar and five individuals, including the operators of the gambling racket were nabbed. The operators were identified as Maninder, alias Ramble, and Ajit. The raid by Delhi Police Special Staff in the East District, was conducted after receiving information on May 29, indicating the presence of a casino operating in the area.
A total of Rs 72,000 in cash, four computers, and a Wi-Fi dongle with charger, all believed to be connected to the illicit gambling operation were seized in the raid. The special Task Force of the Delhi Police apprehended three persons identified as Pradeep Sharma alias Boby (33), Mohit Arora (35) and Mukesh Sharma (44) were apprehended. One laptop, six mobile phones, one LED TV, one router and Rs 20,500 were recovered from them, the police added. According to the police, a case was registered under the Gambling Act at Krishna Nagar Police Station.
