Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 7 (ANI): A dramatic scene unfolded in Ghaziabad's Surya Nagar area when a scooty rider attempted to evade police checking and ended up injured.
According to Sahibabad ACP Rajneesh Kumar Upadhyay, Chouhan was signalled to stop, but instead, he sped away, leading to a chase. Unfortunately, Chouhan's scooty slipped, and he fell on the Rampuri railway line.
The injured victim, identified as Jatin Chouhan is a resident of Sundarnagari and was injured after retaliatory firing with the police, as per the police officials.
Further, the police said that one and a half dozen cases had been registered against the accused under the Gangster Act.
Speaking to ANI, Sahibabad ACP Rajneesh Kumar Upadhyay said "While checking was being done in the Surya Nagar area, a scooter rider started riding very fast when he was signalled to stop. When the police team started chasing him, his scooty slipped and fell on the Rampuri railway line and then he opened fire on the police team to save himself. In retaliation, the miscreant got shot and was injured."
The police also said that the accused had been involved in petty crimes like chain snatching, and mobile snatching and was actively involved in gambling.
"Upon interrogation, the person revealed his identity as Jatin Chouhan and is a resident of Sundarnagari in Delhi. He revealed that he has been involved in gambling and has spent Rs 1 lakh on a gambling game recently. He has committed petty crimes like chain snatching and mobile snatching. We found some weapons and money with him. One and a half dozen cases have been registered against him under the Gangster Act," ACP Upadhyay further added.
The accused has been admitted to the hospital for further treatment, the police official said.
