Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 24 (ANI): Various places in Karnataka on Sunday wore a deserted look as the state imposed a complete lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The state government decided to impose a complete lockdown in the state on Sunday to contain the virus and said that all the shops will remain closed till 7 am on May 25.

Places including Shivajinagar, Hubli, Gadag, Shimoga and Kalaburagi witnessed fewer crowds. All commercial establishments, including Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus terminal, remained closed.

Meanwhile, people living in these areas also supported the move and remained at their respective home.

"This is a great move by the state government and it is in the public interest. I have not seen many people on the road. Today is Eid that's some people are seen on the roads otherwise nobody gets out on the streets unnecessarily," Balqis, a resident of Shivajinagar said.

Dakshina Kannada also witnessed complete lockdown in the district. Masjid' s remained closed and people celebrated Eid in their homes.

Speaking to ANI Dr Nuhman said, "It is my first experience celebrating Eid without going anywhere, and without mass prayer in the mosque. We are celebrating in the simplest way at our home." (ANI)
