Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 5 (ANI): After losing from Fatehpur Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti extended her wishes to the winning candidate Naresh Chandra Uttam Patel from the Samajwadi Party. She said that she would identify those who put hurdles in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said, "I think I received a better result than what was the situation in Fatehpur. 15 days prior (to polling), I felt that there was definitely something wrong here. But our ground workers worked hard here so I received 4,67,129 votes. I also felt that the work we started in Fatehpur faced obstruction somewhere. I will definitely identify those who put hurdles in PM Modi's campaign and take it up."

She further appealed to the winning candidate Naresh Chandra Uttam Patel to carry on the development work.

"In Fatehpur Sadar maximum development work was carried out. I hope the winning candidate carries on the development work," she added.

Naresh Chandra Uttam Patel defeated Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti by 33199 votes.

Notably, the Samajwadi Party has dominated the 18th Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, winning 37 seats while BJP secured victory in 33 seats.

Declaration of results of the 18th Lok Sabha election in the 543-member Parliament saw the BJP-led NDA winning 294 seats and the INDIA bloc bagging 234 seats.

A party or coalition requires a simple majority of 272 seats to form the government. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats. (ANI)
