Assam police have successfully intercepted a group of 20 youths who had been trying to form a new militant group and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kokrajhar-Chirang forests.

Guwahati, August 13: Assam police have successfully intercepted a group of 20 youths who had been trying to form a new militant group and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kokrajhar-Chirang forests.

Assam DGP GP Singh said that police recovered six automatic rifles, four single-shot rifles, three pistols with magazines, five No 36 HE grenades, 54 rounds of AK rifle ammunition, and nine rounds of pistol ammunition. "In Kokrajhar-Chirang forests, we have been able to intercept and bring out a group of 20 youths who had been trying to form a new militant group for the last three/four months. They have listened to reason and come out and handed over the weapons held by them," GP Singh wrote on X.
