Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], October 31 (ANI): Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) attended the virtual unveiling of the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the inauguration of the Major Bob Khating Museum of Valour by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Tawang on Thursday.
The Governor flagged off the Unity Run organised for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
He also administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge to a large gathering in Tawang.
In his address, the Governor highlighted that Arunachal Pradesh has always been an integral part of India and will remain so, thanks to the contributions of Sardar Patel and Major Bob Khating.
He stated that these two great sons of India played significant roles in ensuring the unity and territorial integrity of the country.
Paying tribute to Sardar Patel on his 150th birth anniversary, the Governor remarked that Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's life exemplifies how perseverance can lead to transformative change.
"His integrity and sense of responsibility inspire today's youth to lead with ethics, courage, and clarity--traits essential in a world where integrity is often tested. Embracing Sardar Patel's values can help today's youth become resilient, inclusive, and effective leaders, driving both personal and societal growth, thereby contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat,'" he said.
The Governor noted that Major Khating's contributions hold a pivotal place in the history of north-eastern India.
"The museum preserves this heritage by documenting his life, achievements, and the socio-political impact he had on the region. It offers young people insights into leadership, service, and patriotism through Major Khating's story, inspiring them to contribute positively to society and embody values crucial for nation-building. This aligns with 'Viksit Bharat' by preparing a generation committed to the country's development and supports the State's flagship programme, 'Seva Aapke Dwar,' led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Collectively, these initiatives are building blocks for a developed, inclusive, and strong India, where even the remotest communities actively participate in the nation's progress," he added.
The Governor commended Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his 'Team Arunachal,' along with military formations, for executing the event with professionalism and dignity.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu remarked, "The people of Tawang gathered at the parade ground today to pay heartfelt tribute to two monumental figures, Major Ralengnao 'Bob' Khathing and Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose visionary efforts brought Indian administration to remote areas like Tawang, safeguarding our sovereignty and integrity."
He added, "It was an honour to hear Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Ji address the gathering and virtually inaugurate the 'Desh ka Vallabh' statue of Sardar Patel and the 'Museum of Valour' dedicated to Major Bob Khating from Tezpur. These landmarks stand as enduring symbols of courage and the spirit of Indian sovereignty. United, we are stronger."
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh were also present at the event. (ANI)
